Hong Kong Vlog Day 5 – Ngong Ping 360 Crystal Cable Car | The Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha) | Tai O Fishing Village, Lantau

Lantau is a must visit island for various reasons. First – it hosts the Hongkong Disneyland. Second – if you are in Hongkong and if you don’t do the Ngong Ping 360 – crystal cable car ride up to the Big buddha, you miss a lifetime experience. Third and most important if you are an International traveller traveling by flight, you have to visit this island as the Hongkong Airport is based in Lantau. If you are staying in hongkong or Kowloon take the Mtr Tsuen Wan line going towards Tsuen Wan and change the line at Lai king station and take the connecting Tung Chung line going towards Tung Chung and get off at Sunny bay station to catch disney train to Disneyland and if going for Ngong Ping 360 and the Big Buddha (from Lai King station take Tung Chung line get off at Tung Chung – the last station to board the Ngong Ping 360 cable car).

Ngong Ping 360

We bought tickets Land, Sea and Air tickets through klook. I wonder why they do not directly give boarding tickets when we book online. You have to stand in queues for about 45 mins simply to get the prebooked voucher exchanged for boarding tickets and this is supposed to be the shorter line as compared to the extremely long serpentine queue of hoards of people who had not prebooked. But after all the tiresome waiting when you sit in the crystal cable car (only if you are not afraid of heights and glass bottom cable cars) you feels divine, all rejuvenated and excited especially when you see the sea and boats going underneath. The views of the hongkong airport from up there is also good. What an experience! Can’t describe in words felt sooo awesome. Please do not miss this for anything in the world. An Absolute must do attraction

The big Buddha

The Statue is very nice and beautiful. The Monastery down is so calming and Amazing. Definitely Definitely do not skip this attraction when in hongkong. It’s extremely close to the airport so you can do it while commuting to or from the airport towards the main cities

Po Lin Monastery

This is an Excellent Monastry to spend some calm and peaceful time especially after the long & tiresome lines that you have to wait in while coming from the lower cable car terminal (Ngong Ping360) and the huge crowds who have come to visit the Big Buddha. There is a Martial Art show called Shaolin Kung Fu performance and Acrobatic show which happens sometimes and we were fortunate enough to get to see it. Its free of cost and the show is simply outstanding. If you read a notice outside the Monastery showing the timings of this show please be sure to watch it.

Tai O fishing Village, Lantau

If you take the Ngong Ping 360 land, water, air ticket package. You can take a bus from Ngong Ping 360 cable car upper terminal to Tai O village about 20 mins ride (buses are at 30-40mins) from there you can walk through the village market mostly selling local seafood (dry and fresh). Then you come to the pier to board the small motor boat which shows you the village houses and shops perched above the sea water and then slowly after it crosses a bridge they suddenly increase the speed of the boat and take you a bit further in the sea to show you the Chinese Pink Dolphins which keep jumping in and out of the water. It feels truly amazing to spot them. The boat ride is very enjoyable and the market walk is also a nice experience. Do visit this Quaint little village if you have the time.
